Common roadblocks to implementation

Two hurdles insurers often have to clear when implementing any new insurance technology are:

• Side-by-side system management: Incorporating new software or systems alongside modern legacy or on-premises infrastructure is a major pain in the neck. Managing production, non-production, and development environments — plus tooling, hardware, and software deployment — during program transformation creates a massive change management burden with overhead costs to match.

• New system architecture: This may cause short- and long-term‌ challenges. For one, if a new platform is so complex that it requires a massive learning curve for carrier teams, insurers can’t leverage whatever benefits the software is supposed to offer in a timely fashion. Also, if the platform architecture can’t accommodate seamless integration (without time-consuming hard coding) or isn’t designed for flexibility across different business models, you’ll be allocating time, resources, and budget toward an uncertain conclusion.
